Artists aren’t the only ones who create art

humans themselves are art. Artists preserve it.

Hey there, I’m Kate!

I’ve been privileged enough to grow up in the beautiful western slope of colorful Colorado. Because I have been fortunate to travel around the states and other countries of the world, I began to understand the value of capturing a moment as a reflection of a memory and a mirror of time. I’m still navigating my way through this incredible planet, and in the process I am finding myself and stylization as an artist.

Fun Fact: one of my life goals is to take a photo on each of the seven continents.

I am currently based in Western and Northern/Central Colorado, where I attend the University of Colorado at Boulder to pursue my bachelor’s degree. I am always up for the experience to travel and capture your memories and your story.

A bit about my history with photography and what inspired me to pick up a camera:

I grew up dancing at the early age of three and continued down the pre-professional track until I was eighteen. I decided on a whim to take an intro to photography course at my high school and, for an assignment, I decided to take my camera to dance class. Ever since then, I grew increasingly fascinated with recording movement.

A line of a dancer’s leg. The way the tulle folds on a tutu. Ribbons sewn onto pointe shoes. The jewels fastened to a delicate tiara. And so forth. From then on out, my heart instantly clicked with the love of storytelling through photography.

I eventually went on to have the opportunity to photograph professional dance companies and dancers from across the States. Through every performance I’ve ever photographed, my favorite images will always be the ones taken from the wings of the stage: there is intimacy in perspective.

“There is one thing the photograph must contain, the humanity of the movement”
